Good Torque Wrenches?
So I'm thinking of getting a new torque wrench and I'm wondering what you guys recommend. I looked at the Craftsman torque wrenches, and the poor reviews and lack of warranty is discouraging. Snap-on is out of the budget.

Re: Good Torque Wrenches?
what size, drive and torque spec are you looking for? check out cornwell tools, reasonably priced, and a lifetime warranty to boot.

I actually don't own any decent torque wrenches so I'm interested in basically anything/everything. My main objective is to be able to torque my lugs nuts at my own place at my own convenience.

Thanks for the offer, but as mentioned above, I'm basically trying to make torque wrench usage more convenient.

Re: Good Torque Wrenches?
Just so happens I bought that 3/8s Kobalt a few months ago when I did my hub replacement. Nothing but good to say about it. About 4 years ago I caught a 200 or so piece set of Kobalt SAE and Metric ratchets, sockets, and wrenches for like 95 bucks. NEVER had any problems with the ratchets, great quality. I've got some Snap On stuff and I'd easily say the Kobalt is on par with it.

Re: Good Torque Wrenches?
I have a Craftsman, I love the thing. Hasn't broken on me yet.... My favorite is definately the Snap On torque wrench out of what I have used so far. Cornwell's weren't bad at all either. Matco had one similar to the Snap-On for cheaper, you might looks for a Gear Wrench one, it is the same as the Matco, but like $100 cheaper, and I didn't like the handle as much. Just my 2 cents

Re: Good Torque Wrenches?
snap on is the best. If your planning on using a TQ wrench alot then you should save up for a snap on really.

Re: Good Torque Wrenches?
I have used Craftsman Torque Wrenches to build over a dozen motors, rebuild more than a few rear ends and other automotive assemblies and none have come apart.
IMHO, buy the Craftsman unless as was stated you intend to do a lot of Torquing.
Oh ya, I used to be a Calibration Tech and I tested the readings on both the Pointer type and the dDigital Craftsman Torque Wrenches and all were within Spec in almost new condition and five years later.
