To follow up: I installed my BakFlip HD. I have pics and plan to do a review eventually, but the highlights:

- all the parts were there and packed very well
- instructions were vague but install fairly straightforward (it seemed)
- there are no drain holes in my bed, and I wasn't prepared to drill them yet, so the drain hoses are not installed yet
- fit (parts to each other, cover on truck) seemed OK, not great, but OK (more in a bit)
- looks good on the truck to me, but may not be some people's cup of tea
- seems very sturdy, I was able to stand on it with little flexing
- normal operation works very well: latching/unlatching, folding/unfolding, securing up against cab, etc., I drove with it closed as well as completely open, but I didn't try securing partly open

Although I haven't installed the drain hoses yet, I did connect them, put the ends in plastic bottles, and ran through a brushless car wash. The main reason I'm waiting to write my review (other than not having installed the drain hoses), is that there were fairly significant leaks that appear to be unrelated to the drain hoses. My next steps are going to be 1) look things over to make sure I've got everything installed correctly, 2) put some large sheets of brown paper in the bed and run through the car wash again to try to pinpoint the leaks, and 3) fix the leaks (if any remain after step 1), calling manufacturer's support if necessary.

So ultimately, everything was looking good, but I'm disappointed with the leaks right now, however I'm reserving judgment until I've completed troubleshooting.

I have more unpacking, install and finished photos for my review, but here's an example:

It looks awesome on your truck. Sorry to hear about the leaks. Hopefully it's something you can solve with some sealing. How are you liking the function of it so far after some use?

I was looking at the TruXedo deuce yesterday. The cab flip portion of it is awesome, it would be so useful for me. I just wish it was possible to scaffold with it. But roll up covers would crash and burn if you did that, lol. Unless you put something in your bed to stand on. But thats a added inconvenience. I really like how functional it is, but not crazy about roll up cover looks..

Thanks! The low profile is nice, and it has a nice form-follows-function look.

Yeah, me too - now I just have to find the time to troubleshoot it

Other than the leaks, it's great! Easy to use, quality feel, and secure. I've used it fully open and fully closed - I need to get some bungee cords to use it partially open. Turns out the manufacturer doesn't recommend you stand on the top side like I did, but rather flip up at least one panel and stand on the now up-facing bottom side (though I don't really see myself standing on it much, if at all.) This is both for added strength and to avoid damaging the top side finish, though I didn't hurt mine any. I'm just glad my hunch was right - I've used my bed twice since I got the BakFlip for loads that wouldn't have fit under a shell, and one of those times, I was away from home and would've had nowhere to stash a shell even if it had been removed.

That looks pretty nice - I had ruled out soft covers because I wanted more security, but at least that one could prevent casual theft since it latches (assuming you get a tailgate lock.) It would certainly be better for your rear visibility issue.
