spray some silicone or wd-40 in the latch of the door
then open and close the door until the light goes out

this is a common problem with rangers....
it happened to me too, just spray the latch with a little wd-40 and open and close the door a couple times.... it should fix the problem, it did for me and many other people that have had this problem
AND its a cheap fix too!!!

Yeah my light stays on also. Tried the spray and it didn't work either, pulled the fuse for the light but the fuse also shuts down the speedometer. I finally had to take the bulbs out of the dome light and the cab light on the outside of the cab, at least till I can figure out what the heck is wrong with this thing.

Remove the door panel, buy a new switch, about $25 at Ford. It goes onto the bottom of the door latch. I had to pay a tech to remove the old one as I couldn't get it loose, but that solved my problem. 2001 ext cab 4 door.

or, save yourself $25 and spray some Wd-40 in there as suggested several times already. it works and its cheap

I tried WD-40 first, and used a whole can with no success. The switch was just worn out. Jerry D
