I've been curious about this one for awhile now, what I'd like to know is, what does it look like in five years, five years of mud and all that slopping off of it? Is it still black or is it a dingy, dirty black that doesn't wash clean and needs attention (again). I really like the idea of putting an end to the rock chips, a feature that Ford included on my 94 but removed from mine and everyone elses 04, and at no extra cost. It was downhill starting with the clock showing mile 10 or so.

On edit: And if it's dingy down the road, what's the semi permanent fix, short of spraying more on or some crap in a rattle can, meaning a constant maintenance issue?

How i did it with the hurculiner you can re apply, orrrr they sell a sealant and uv protector and it works really well on preserving it.. You can power wash it an it wont fade. I havent tested it out against rocks and getting peppered . But its really easy to touch up

It was a body shop that did it for me. They do great paint and body work - I went there to talk to him about doing it in paint and he told me about the tint-able types of bed liner that are available now.

NO OFFENCE! BUT I AGREE WITH RangerJoe52.it does not look good.
Mods and stuff are ok,since theres no more rangers being made,i would think people would want to keep bodys, looking original like they were intended!and be proud!again no offence, each to their own.

My one question I want to know before getting this done is what do you do when dirt gets all over it ...I know my bed liner is stained a dirty grey color ?

With hurculiner, they make a sealant/uv protector and nothing realy sticks to it and it washes easy

I agree if I had a truck worth doing a pro job I would but I got my hurculiner pretty damn perfect its nice and even all the way around and it's pretty smooth

Rhino also sells a "conditioner", called Rhino Shine Ultra. It's a UV protectant, and from what I've seen online, it brings the dull, dingy looking speudo-black, back to it's original luster.

But for rocker panels, I'd use armor all (or similar). The Rhino Shine Ultra is spendy, and it's biggest selling point over armor-all is that it won't make it slippery, where armor all will make it slippery.

Prep work is key in a DIY kit. If you do good prep work, you can get good results.
I used herculiner once, and didn't do a very good prep job. It looked fabulous that first summer. The second summer, it looked kinda bad. Third summer, it looked embarrassingly bad.
But I've seen people use herculiner, Raptor, Monsta-Liner, and others, with good results.

I dont get why anyone would do Hurculiner? All it is , is paint with sand in it. Just buy rustolium and throw a shovel of sand in it.

For the same price as Hurculiner, you can get a 3 part Epoxy coating just like Rhino or line -x. It is called AL's or Scorpion.

I just did a 2 gallon Scorpion kit in my bronco tub. It costed me $161. I already had the gun to spray it($45). O and did I mention, it is UV stable and does not fade out over time. You can also color match it to your truck for about $100 more.

It looks way better than Hurculiner and will out last it. How do I know? because I have use the Herculiner JUNK before and had it wear off in about 3-6 months
