Re: Noise behind cab
You exceeded the load rating for a Ranger, so who knows what was done.
I would suggest that you :
(A) check to make sure the front bulkhead didn't bow out. The bed & cab flex separately over bumps. If the front bulkhead gets bent enough, it can contact the cab.
(B) Check the tailgate for any damage, if it isn't shutting the same as before, it might make different noises. An empty bed can really "telescope" the noises, making a noise that's pretty much anywhere behind the cab, sound like it's right behind the cab.
(C) Check your suspension components for damage.
(D) verify that your spare tire is fastened tightly. If the bed was pressed down, the that pressure released, your spare tire might not be stowed as snugly as before.
(E) if the payload had any rocks in it (any at all) then you might want to check every nook & cranny underneath, to see if there is a rock/pebble wedged in somewhere, that might be squeaking when you hit bumps. Between the bed & frame is a place where pebbles like to hitch rides.
Welcome to the forum, good luck finding your rattle!
