Default Gas tank problem

Hey everybody, so I always smell gas when im around my truck and I assumed it was the filler neck. So I removed the bed to replace the neck and I found the real problem. The cap the houses the fuel pump and all of the sencors that are on top of the fuel tank that usualy screws into three metal posts that hold it in place. Those posts have rusted so severely that they no longer exist. When I fuel up gas leaks from tank due to the lack of a seal on top of the tank and when I hit good bumps the truck shuts off. How can I secure the cap to the tank so I dont have to purchase a new tank. Thanks guys
