Default Looking for a good techniques to rattle can this summer

Planning on sanding done my truck this summer and rattle canning it a flat olive green but I'm not sure how to go about it. I'm not looking for an amazing paint job, but I don't want it to look like some drunk ******* spray painted it. Any advice?

Scuff parts with fine steel wool or similar product, buy prep solvent (does not have to be expensive) and wipe down parts with it. Then spray. I usually try and hang any parts im painting ( hang with like wire) then you have 360 degrees that you can spray.

To add onto this, I have a pretty good size dent on the right hand side of my bed right in front of the wheel. A buddy of mine told me to use mud and sand it down to make it straight. Has anyone tried this before they painted their truck? The dent is fairly large and can't really be ding out.

Stick your hand up behind the bedside and push it out
