Default Water pouring in from the rear window

I had a glass dude come out and take a look. He did alittle water test and found water pouring in from the third brake light and the rear window. He told me its common on the Ranger and F150's, has this happened to any of you guys? I don't doubt its a problem, afterall my Ranger is 14 years old, but I was curious if anybody has run into this?

yeah quite a few people on here have had that problem. easy enough to fix though, i think there is even a "how to" for the rear window.

I am currently having this same problem. I'm pretty sure its coming in through the 3rd brake light, but it could also be leaking through the back sliding glass weather strip. I need to find that how to guide cause it really sucks when i find my stuff in the back wet.

It's most likely the glass window. It's held on by glue and the glue lasts a really long time, but you gotta remember our trucks are around 13 years old

I had my glass guy fix it for me, it was leaking thru the brake light and the rear window on the passenger side. He said that Ford used butyl tape on the Ranger /F150 that dries out after a few years. I spent the last week overhauling my bathroom and was elbow deep in plumbers putty, thought it best to leave it to a pro.

How much did he charge? I sealed the 3rd brake light and its still leaking. Its coming in at the top of the back window, and dripping from under the headliner. I wonder if the seam is leaking above the back side windows. I've read that those seams could be another problem area for leaking. I am going to seal those up too. If it still leaks then it has to be the window.

Yep that's the problem same thing happened to me. Got my 3rd light sealed up still leaked. Called a local windshield repair guy to do it. I think it was $100. Worth it, you have to take the back glass off remove all of the old tape and put in fresh tape for reinstall.

My guy charged 120.00 to reseal the rear window and the brake light. It's rained pretty hard a few times since and it's not leaking. It was worth it, in a storm my Ranger was like being in the engine room of the Titanic.

I found the DIY instructions with pics, so I will save that $100 and do it myself. There are 2 bad leaks on both top sides of sliding back glass. The harder it rains the faster it drips.

It is very easy to do yourself cause these windows are in frames essentially.... remove the trim around the window, take out 8-10 nuts.....open slider window if you have one, go outside and get in bed of truck and gently remove the window.... clean tape off window frame and truck... install new butyl tape or windshield sealer that you bought for 18 dollars on the window frame all the way around... then reinstall... tightening the nuts from the center outwards....

only difference for solid window guys i would reccomend having a helper, have them in the bed basically ready to catch the window, while you press it outwards around the edges or by the bolts

I swapped my slider for a solid window and have had problems getting it to seal. The slider wasn't original either (all the glass was shot out when the PO had it) and they put the new one in with black silicone. I can't figure out why this thing leaks, but I think it's always been an issue. (Yes, I got all the silicone and prepped it properly before used the correct seal.)
