Default Toolbox anyone?

I'm looking to buy a toolbox for the bed of my 05 ranger and I need suggestions. I'm not looking to spend 400 bucks on one.. 250 is more of my price range. Any input sure would be helpful!

New aluminum ones are like like $225 at Tractor Supply, last time I looked.

But, there are always used ones on CL.

Nice forum here. Thought I'd register to throw in my two cents... Amazon was my friend when I went through the hunt for toolboxes. Could only find plastics and half-deeps at both HomeDepot and Lowes. No one should want to waste their money for a foot-deep box...
Cannot remember seller; wish I could help you there more.

talk to any local truck accesory dealers you've got around, i got my trail F/X box for $250, including tax, with a lifetime warrenty from a small local dealer. the quality of the trail F/X box is alot nicer than what i saw at lowes & tractor supply too, i would reccomend one to anyone

Craigslist is the best place for tool boxes. Around here you can pick up a nice diamond tread one for $150 all day long. Some uglyer ones you can get for 20-50

How heavy do those get? Does the added weight affect fuel economy or is it negligible?

I don't know how much they weigh, but the tools stay in there full time. I have tools that stay in the ext cab too..I'm estimating at least 400 lbs between all the tools and the boxes themselves..I get between 13-17 mpgs, so it affects it some for sure. Other members with same truck as me have reported better mileage but not much. I don't care what fuel mileage I get, the tools are necessary for me, owning my own business

I would say mines about 50 lbs with an additional 50 lbs of tools. I dropped about 1 mpg but I had a tonneau before I had the toolbox.
