Re: Hid issue ztec lights
from experience on my truck and my wifes car we have 4 kits in all. your stock headlight harness is no longer to be used to turn on the headlights. it is being used to turn on the relay in your kit. hence the reason for the other stock connector not being used. you harness from the kit draws its power from the battery and then feeds it to the hid ballast. the ballast then powers the hid bulb. your stock connector has three wires. a power , ground and a circuit to power the high beams. on my hid bulbs there is a power and ground for the bulb and then a power and ground to pull the light back for the high beams. my kit is from euro effex but the kit you have should be the same kind. try to understand what the harness is there for and how it works to troubleshoot your situation. i had issues with my highbeams not working and i located it to the bulbs not being good from the manufacturer. that was the first time i installed the kit so not a good first experience. i had to make 3 harnesses for my wifes pt cruiser (high, low, fogs) and i just duplicated the setup from my ranger. hope this helps

there may or may not be a safety assurance clip on the back of the connector to keep the pins from coming loose. if there is, gently remove it. look at the pins from both ends and look for a small tab that retains the pin. insert a small pic, paperclip, or small screwdriver (eye glass repair small) into the tab and GENTLY pull the wire out the back of the harness. i tried swapping the wires around for my kit when it first wasnt working. found out i had bad bulbs from the getgo. returned wires to stock location and got new bulbs. every kit my be different though. good luck
