Default Fog light converion help PLEASE!

i have a 2003 ranger XLT without fog light, but im wanting to do the conversion. i have a few questions but let me explain my prob first.

i have the fog light connector (like everyone else i think) in the dash for the switch for the bezzel (witch i have for when i do this conversion)

the only prob is i don't have the pigtails like i thought i did when i checked a new months ago. I recently checked tonight 2 times to make sure. I do not have the pigtails. i understand i need the lights, pigtails and bumper, plus the relay. My prob is now, How do i wire the foglights so they work on the stock switch inside the cab via the bezzel button.

i heard this can be done, i want to do it to my truck.

Thanks

I can't get you this, but if you have all the stuff you need to physically make the conversion, then all you need is a wiring diagram, to see where to wire it up at in the truck. I know someone on here probably has one on a digital file they can get you. This won't show you how to route it in the truck, but it will show you where to connect the wires in a the fuse box and all that.

The wiring diagram, I don't have a digital copy. I've only got hard copies. I use Ford's tech site but I only have access to it on campus

I know how it's wired. I wired my PIAA's on my light bar to a 2nd factory fog switch above the stock switch in the bezel... Lemme find the diagram... I think I have it in my PB.

Alright. This is the pic that I have:

How the factory switch works is through grounding. The system is what's called as a double grounded circuit. So pin 87 Is going to go to the positive wire to your fog lights, then the other wire on the fog lights (on each light) is going to be a ground. Then you have 86 and pin 30 that are joined together and get a fuse of say 15-25a depending on what size lights you're running. Then 85 runs to the pigtail on the switch. I'm trying to trace the wires in my book for the pigtail wiring. I know black is ground and that leaves 3 other wires, where one of them gets illumination power, one goes to the relay (Above pic, that you have to install and run the wiring for) and I'm trying to figure out where the last one goes. I might have to take my bezel off tomorrow and just tell you if I can't find them. But the wires I think are light blue/red and a light orange/white wire... Lemme look more into it though.

EDIT:

Wiring for the pigtails goes as follows:

LB/RD is the illumination wire
BK is a ground
TN/OG runs to your relay. So pin 85 on the relay.

I know there's 4 wires, at least I think there's 4 on the pigtail... I'll go make sure tomorrow. That's exactly how mine is set up to run my PIAA's with a factory switch and I have no probs.

What part of my truck do you wanna know the year on? haha

Was that post enough to do the swap man? I think I pretty much covered the whole schematic for factory light circuit on an aftermarket setup.

The color codes at the factory foglamp switch connector are as follows:
  • Tan/orange = +12v power to the "Foglamps ON" LED
  • Light blue/red = +12V night illumination for the switch icon
  • Light blue/black = switched ground trigger to the Fog Lamp Relay
  • Black = common ground for the above three circuit branches

If the connector is present for the foglamp switch, then the TN/OR and LB/BK wires should go at least as far as the firewall bulkhead connector near the p-brake pedal. Nothing else should need to be added to the the dash harness.

Since it's a V6 truck, it is possible that the TN/OR and LB/BK wires also continue from the firewall connector on to the underhood power distribution box. This needs to be verified on the truck.

Assuming that they are not already present, the Foglamp Relay and Foglamp Isolation Relay would need to be added to the power distribution box. On a 2002/2003 w/factory fogs, these fit into sockets in the driver side rear corner of the box (48A and 48B). Be sure to verify that the receiver pins are present in the box before buying or attempting to install the relays. Without the factory installed pins in the distribution box, it would probably be easier to just use an external accessory relay and wiring instead.

In a truck w/factory fogs, a branch of the tan/orange goes forward from the distribution box and splits into two to go to the individual foglamps. At each foglamp connector, there is a black and a tan/orange wire.

I was hoping you'd chime in Bob... Thanks! I was reading the factory wiring diagrams and I couldn't quite put my finger on it... I got pretty close though! Last time I had to do this was over 2 years ago when I did it.

I gave him the diagram above for him to run factory fogs not wired through the factory wiring, but yet separate from it. I know it's a double grounded system and therefore has to be wired like I described above with the relay picture, I just wasn't 100% sure on the wiring at the pigtail on the switch.
