Default Winshield wiper on bed cap?

Does anyone know if you can buy a windshield wiper assembly that you can mount on a truck cap? I can never see out my rearview mirror because it gets covered with salt and crap from the road. Ill clean it at the gas station and it'll be covered again within a mile or two. It sucks...

That's pretty much my plan if no one knows of any kit or something sold for this purpose. If I do go that route it should make a nice a how to thread....

Never seen such a product. It would have to be a custom job. It will be tricky though since you would have to mount it to the tailgate or to the glass itself. I really don't see any practical way to do this.

I was thinking about mounting it from above. I have a 92 ranger with an aluminum cap that is probably just as old and has about 3-4 inches of aluminum above the rear window before it meets the top so there's definitely room to mount it up there and have the wiper arm hang down and sweep across the window...

I suppose the issue would be getting one with a joint that would bend up at a little more than 90 degrees so that the window could still be opened normally to access the bed.

You wouldn't want the wiper to move up with the glass. I don't think any wiper arms is designed for that kind of movement and probably break. You need one of those ones that will bed the wiper off the glass, then when in operation it stays on the glass.

I'm sure you can mount one somehow. But what about the sprayer, I wouldn't want to wipe a dry glass with no water.

Good point. When I go to the junkyard looking for the wiper assembly ill make sure to grab the bottle and pump as well. I can mount a bottle in the bed easy . . .

Edit: hopefully I can find one of those wipers that has the sprayer nozzle worked into the wiper arm too. One less thing to mount . . .

My '93 Explorer's rear window wiper had a rest that the wiper arm
dropped onto when the wiper was in the "parked" position. That way the wiper blade was below the rear window & was out in the air, suspended off of the wiper arm.
Just get the washer nozzle in addition to the bottle & pump.

Yeah, it'll be a pretty decent project but hell, it'll be fun. Never seen anyone do something like this before . . .
