Default Running boards question

Hello, I have a pretty aggressive indent in the passenger side panel that runs along the bottom side of my truck (behind running board) its almost like it was booted.. I think I know the reasoning behind it though. I want to remove the running board(s) and see if I can pop it out. My first question is how easy is it to remove these? My second question is asking for your input as to whether I should put them back on or not, depending on looks, cause' i've gotten mixed feedback and reasons why to keep em on/off n want to see what the internet community thinks.
Here are pics: not the greatest pics, but theyll do.

As you can see on this last picture, above the middle (slighty forward) of the running board, there is conveniently some dirt collected on it. This picture doesn't really give you a good idea of how big it is, you can see a little line of white, which would be my driveway.

Thanks.

those look like they just mount to the cab of the truck. look around for screws/bolts attached to it and take them all off lol.
