After looking at your truck I think it may just look good. I say no on the bed rails but that is just me, not a big fan of them. But definitely a roll bar. Then you could lift it and get a aftermarket front bumper with a skid plate on it. Make it look top notch!

What is it now? And the more I look at it the more I think a roll bar in the back would look good.

Two things:

1) They're useful for looks and lights. My old '84 had one. May she rest in pieces. I don't have any pictures from before the impact with a tree.
2) They're useless for rollover protection. In order to be useful for rollover protection, it really needs to be bolted to the frame.

Ya that's the only argument I have against taking it out because it is literally 8 bolts holding it down to my bed makes me feel somewhat like a poser haha. I love Gen 1s you lucky dog, sucks that it got totaled.

I think a roll bar would be great! With some lights up on there. I can see it.

They are worthless and do nothing for protection. If you want a roll cage, do an interior cage welded to the frame. Or do both and tie the exterior cage to the interior.

It's not about protection just like bull bars, they offer a look and a place for lights. I still say he should keep it since it makes his truck a little more unique.

Trust me i understand its not about protection, ive owned a caged truck before. Its just that its called a roll bar, when it doesnt offer protection from a roll. I do agree that they do look good on the right truck.
