Default Smashed my nose, pics and a question

I wrecked my ranger this morning. Cruising at about 40 and hit a patch of black ice, sent the ass to the right and hopped the median, missed traffic in the oncoming lane and kissed a 5' concrete barrier.
Pics:

Damage that I have noticed:
Effed bumper,
busted signal housings,
busted windshield (bottom corner over vin),
fender is tweaked-but fixable. Rubbing the door when opening.
cut up p/s tire
hood sits crooked,
Header panel is bent,
the support that the oil or trans cooler sits on is bent up real bad,
possibly busted balljoint from hitting the median and the curb coming up to the barrier that stopped me.

Now, to the main question; is this enough broken crap to warrant an 01+ front clip swap? Gotta replace most of that crap anyway. And any idea how much Im gonna get hit for? Ins is talking like they are gonna want to total it.

I don't think they would total it. But I like your idea of the front end swap. As long as the frame didn't get bent any I'd just get the new front end and swap it all over.

I could prolly get aftermarket lights and such cheaper than oem replacements, but the hood isnt really all that bad, so that is gonna be a big ticket item for me, no 01+ trucks in my local jy's

they did total mine. and there is a little more damage then yours... so if they were to total it, i'd be angry..

-i've seen alot of wrecked cars (i work at a car dealership with a bodyshop) and there has been much much worse cars that they haven't totaled. but who knows man.. some insurance companies are just crazy.

Depending on what the shop says, I may go with that. Thanks for the link!

description sounds worse than the damage shown...

header panel won't bend...it'll split in half since it's plastic on your years, and fiberglass on 01+. That damage don't look bad at all and won't take much to get it all back into check IMO.

Or if you do end up replacing the hood just go with a 04+ swap. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...1249&viewitem=

id say if the frame is messed up it could be totaled but it all depends on your insurance company

Ditto, frame damage adds tremendous cost to fixing it, especially if it is bent further back on the frame then just the front horns. I'd see how much they offer then it may be time to just buy an 01+. As much as we all hate to see our trucks go there is a point where it's not worth the tons of money it will take to try and fix it. Or you can buy it back and do a frame swap yourself and do the front end conversion. Saves money but takes a lot of time, space and tools.
