( I don't care if it's not working 100%) I just want the sensor on the dash to go away and die and be able to use my dome light again...
With that said I'm just going to bypass the solenoid so the stupid door ajar issue goes away. I don't care if it bounces back a bit the driver and passengar door will keep it shut
Not sure what you mean by "bypass." The switch has a plunger on the end - when depressed, it grounds and activates the circuit (door ajar). You want the plunger extended or open. As long as this circuit is open and not grounded, your truck will think the door is closed.

By the way, just had the exact problem on my truck. The driver rear door (that won't open) switch was stuck and was tripping the door ajar and permanently on dome light. Removed the oval rubber plug at the bottom of the door jamb, and sprayed liberally with graphite spray. Next day, no more issue (fingers crossed) with dome light on or door ajar light. Just wish I could get the d&*^ rear door open...

Did you have to pull the latches out to do this, or could you do this from inside the door?

You can remove the inside door panel, and reach in to disconnect the door ajar switch from the door latch. A little tricky, but persistence is the word.

Well, I did this to both of my rear doors. Still no luck. Which narrows it down to the Passenger front, because I don't have an annoying ding when the drivers door is closed. Have you done that one 3Dog?

Realized I didn't do anything the switch after I removed it from the latch. Played with it and some wd40 and it cleared the issue up!

I had to adjust the latch on the rear passenger door, meaning the latch on the body, not in the door. Moving it out just a little bit fixed it right up for me.

Postings are very informative about the door ajar light problem, same here with my Ranger, WD 40 seems to have solved the problem for now, but I didn't get results till the day after. Also relates to the problem of stuck/ rusted latches on one of my rear doors.
Definitely a maintenance issue with proper drainage of water from the front door sill on my Ranger, a problem after a heavy rain, weep holes probably plugged up which could in turn could trigger the door ajar problem again. Working on that.
I'm aware this thread is old but Thanks for the postings !

Which leads to the next solution: if your latches are working (catch on close and open properly), then you can easily bypass the door ajar solenoid on the rear doors. It's pretty simple. The solenoid is held in place by a small plastic tab (see the picture, I have put a red square where it is located on the latch assembly). Lift the plastic tab, turn the solenoid in the same direction as the location of the tab, and the solenoid comes out easily. You will notice that the solenoid trigger pin is "out" when the door is closed, and "in" when the door is open. Perfect!! With the solenoid taken out of the latch assembly, the pin is "out" indicating the door is closed. Leave the solenoid plugged into the wiring, and do not replace it in the latch assembly. Secure the wire by taping it to the latch cable and leave it dangling. This will have absolutely no effect on your dome light, and the door ajar will never fire because of an open rear door -- only open or ajar front door.

Enjoy!
Sooo....you have to totally dismantle the rear doors? And is this the top or bottom rear latch? (It appears to latch in two
places.)

----------

Okay...you are all saying the bottom latch and I can get to it without pulling off the whole door panel.

I will first pull the rubber plug and spray with contact cleaner.
Then maybe I'll move the latch OUT.

I'm tired of that door ajar light coming on.

Thanks guys.
(Sorry for old threadressurection....heh.
