Default Nerf bar style factory running boards installation

When I got my ranger, it had been wrecked and repaired, but they did not put the running boards back on. I have looked on the underside and cannot figure out how they mount to the truck. Also, would like to pros/cons of putting them back on as opposed to leaving them off. Personally I think the truck looks good either way.

Thx
Bill

Try to explain this in words cant find my pictures.

At the front open the door and pull up the carpet or vinyl floor

You will see a rubber floor plug. Remove the plug

There is a hole there that the bolt goes down through and you have to get the bolt to meet the bracket. Easier with brackets off running boards. Unless you have some help

On the back there is a square hole on the body not the frame. The back bracket goes up in there and bolts in

^^Rear bracket pics posted above are 4dr xcab. 2dr xcab mount differently...i got pics somewhere.

Pros/Cons...it's really up to you and your needs. My opinion is that if the truck is stock height, it doesn't need those side steps. Now...if lifted sky high like mine is, I got 'em for the passengers. Easier to get in and out of the truck..even though I never use mine unless I'm washing the roof of the truck.
