Default How to mount a plate to the front?

Hey guys

So I bought my Ranger in Alberta Canada where you do not require a plate on the front of your vehicle. I am moving to BC soon where u need a plate on the front. My ranger has no predrilled holes or mount of any kind. Is my only option to drill holes in the bumper? I kind of hate that idea...

Suggestions??

thanks
-Hesson

That's the only way. Self tapping screws or nuts and bolts. That's how they attach anyways.

Someone bring a tow strap and a 24pk. I did it again!!! lol

Yeah the front bumper is pretty much your only option. Try and think of something cooler!

I'm tryin to think of a cool alternative. Custom bumper with tag recessed in. Like the lowriders do with the rear roll pan but on the front.

Someone bring a tow strap and a 24pk. I did it again!!! lol

People make light bars so they dont have to drill holes in the bumper. Maybe do something like that for the license plate?

The factory uses a bracket that bolts in on the lower grille. Youll see two holes if you look up at it. Here's mine:

Don't mind my dents and stuff lol

The factory doesn't use bolts btw, I did. They use plastic push rivets.

Maybe I can get pictures of my truck because I think that the license plate frame is somehow attached with rivets and not drilled in. We need a front and back plate in Ohio also.

On your dash. I hate the look of front plates.

When I renew my plates it's going back on the dash

There are already a couple threads on this matter, and it is illegal. There is a reason the plate is supposed to be displayed on the outside of the vehicle, and on the bumper.

Yeah, but at least here, it's not really enforced. My moms Infiniti dealers were about to drill the holes and my dad forced them not to. Same with my neighbors Lexus. A year later, some dick cop in SF pulled my neighbors over, thought she was drunk. She wasn't, but he wasn't satisfied. So he ticketed her for not having a front plate. My dad ended up signing the ticket off. I'd personally have one on a ranger just to be safe. Sure, they're nice cars, but it's just worth it IMO to have one. It's kind of something that can change "I'll let you off with a warning", to "I'm giving you a ticket for this".

I don't troll this site enough to have seen those threads. I've been pulled over with the plate on my dash and cops haven't said anything.

I have been told about mounting the plate on the bumper, then I tell them I don't have a bracket, or some other bs.

You could always seek out a OEM license plate type mount, and then mount it to your bumper. Sorry about the enclosed video, but I ran across it yesterday, and had to share it.
