Re: Rangers pic's with ATV's aboard/ideas?
yeah im scared to do this too.. i have a 450 suzuki eiger with 26'' swamp lites. i know it wont fit with my tool box and i dont want to lose my back glass so i just pull it on a 15' trailer.. with space for the 99 350 yamaha big bear..

My 97 Warrior 350 fit but it was sure tight.I have aluminum toolbox so had to leave tailgate down and have since got a trailer.

Re: Rangers pic's with ATV's aboard/ideas?
Two photos of my 'proof of concept' - loading my 2006 Kawasaki KVF360 (Prairie) in my brother's 2009 supercab sport.
Front bumper hits up against the front of the bed and unfortunately it's just an inch or two too long to close tailgate. Fits past the wheel wells ok.
Just bought my own Ranger last week...

Re: Rangers pic's with ATV's aboard/ideas?
your quad wont let the gate shut trust me. i work at a cycle shop and we have a 700 grizzly, 2in lift, 29in mudlights. and other goodies, and well lets say dont even attempt that. haha doesent even close to fit
heres a chinko quad i had to deliver. same size as a 450 grizz. but the front bumper on this quad was 1in from my back window and i drove 25min away with it like that.

Re: Rangers pic's with ATV's aboard/ideas?
Some new pics:
I mounted the tractor seat on the rear rack - works very well for a rear seat and has much less drag than the rear seat / storage box unit I used in the past.

Re: Rangers pic's with ATV's aboard/ideas?
My question is this I have been debating about trailer queening a quad and also debating about putting a quad in the back of my Ranger. My question is this how much damage does the quad do to the wheel wells in the box of the truck and how bad does the tailgate get with the weight of the quad?

My kawasaki 360 4x4 has 25x8-12 front tires and they rub hard against the ranger wheel wells when loading. The 25x10-12 rears probably wouldnt squeeze by if I backed up the quad onto the bed. I think that some folks with larger quads have to ride one wheel over the wheel well hump. I have Line-x bedliner - gets rubbed but no lasting damage.
My bike fits on the bed and I pull the tailgate up (partially open). I have a trifold ramp and ride it up so there's the 600lbs of bike plus my 180lbs+ load on the tailgate. I never could find a spec for tailgte loading... The load is spread to the hinges and the cables. The tailgate metal and liner seem to be strong enough to ride over without crumpling (ive read some Nissans and Toyotas have had this problem). If I was worried, I'd just remove the tailgate when loading. I've heard of some people using a sheet of plywood that extends over the tailgate to spread the load back into the bed. Would be good if your bike's rear wheels where sticking out on the tailgate.
