Ditto, and what they charge can depend on how you get the part to. The places you pull it yourself are generally cheaper than places that they pull it. Some do both. I tend to be extra nice to the guys to and sometimes you get a deal. I happen to know the guys that run the big yard back home so generally I get a deal if they can give me one. Mostly on the weird stuff like a jack for my mom's minivan. Take more tools than you think you will need. Sometimes to get stuff off you run into a lot of stuff you didn't expect in the way. I usually take a can of bug killer to. Wasps don't make life nice when you are under a car and they start stinging the crap out of you and I hate spiders. I take coveralls too. I usually pay in cash as some places charge extra for credit cards or checks, if they even take them. The other idea is browse Craigslist or put up a post for a skid plate. You might find someone already has one and is trying to get rid of it.
