2009 Ranger needs a metal tailgate handle.

Hello.I am new here and am looking to help out a friend who has an 09 Ranger.
His plastic handle has broken and he asked me to find a metal one.I read somewhere that they are made but the guy who sells them had shut down due to a death in the family.
Would any of you by chance know where to find one?
It has to be for the 09 with the 6 inch long one,not the older style.

Yeah I thought of that too until I looked it over...man what a light weight piece of plastic junk.Reminds me of my Grandfathers s-10.Had to replace 3 3rd door handles till I found a metal one.Cured that problem.

Owned my truck for 8 years, never broken my tailgate handle. Just replace it with an OEM one

I do know if they are replaced, the replacement ones online are real cheap. I broke 4 door handles within a 2 weeks of owning my truck. The first one was a replacement, snapped when I got home from buying truck. Metal handles would be a lot nicer

Mines and 01 and broke last summer, 10 years of use with no problems. I bought my replacement from the Ford dealership for about 25 bucks. Haven't had any problems over the last year and few months.

i know the older mazda B series pickup's had chrome metal tailgate handles, not sure when they stopped using them or if it would work, but it's worth a call to some local junkyards.

I broke mine too and replaced it with a metal one I found on here or the old RF. Long time ago though so I don't have any information on who it was.

The ones I have been finding are for the older ones.I found the other place stuff for your ranger.com on the ranger station site but it says it it down(the site).
I think he is the one who had the death in the family.
I wonder how hard it would be to make your own.

Here's an idea I was wondering about.
What if I were to get the older style handle and the frame it mounts to?
I see it looks as if it would bolt to the tailgate the same.
I assume it would and hopefully the levers would be the same.
Any thoughts?

Thanks and sorry for not getting back sooner JoshThaxton.
I have been here(LMC) several times before.I just can't figure if the steel handle is the same as the 6 inch plastic one we are replacing.
So far all of the other places on the net say there's a difference.
I may call them but hate to.Most of the time they don't have any idea what your talking about.

Ok guy's I went ahead and contacted LMC Truck twice.
Each time they guaranteed me that 49-8433 ( black metal) will fit a 2009 no problem.Contacted the truck owner and wound up ordering it.Should be here at the end of the week.I hope it works.
I will keep looking in case of failure though.Will let you all know how it goes.

Hey Guy's.
Great News!!!
I ordered the handle from LMC Truck,it got here quickly.
My friend installed it himself in a few minutes.
I saw it today and it works perfectly.

I wanted to let you all know that for about $23.00 LMC Truck has the metal replacement handl to replace that plastic junk.
The number I ordered was 49-8433.
I also want to thank all who provided information and helped me to help a good friend.
Thats what GOD wants us to do.
