What gas tank...
Hey everyone,
My mother and father took my truck this past weekend to move some stuff while i was at church, and when they went to fill her up, she took 14.7 gallons, but on my Ultra-Gauge there should have been 2.XX left in the tank since the gas station is very close to my house...
I honestly thought i had the same size gas tank that my father has in his 08' ranger, being a 15gallon gas tank.
I know for sure my gas gauge is way the crap off, but ive known that since i got the truck...
My question is... how can i tell what size gas tank as i packing midship of this truck? ive searched around the forums and nothing has come across my screen with any answers. Is there a code i can look for on the tank?

Re: What gas tank...
I think my 1996 extended has a 19 or 20 gallon tank.

Re: What gas tank...
Well, i went through the Manuals and they all seemed to be in agreement that i should in fact have a 19.5 gallon fuel supply onboard the Truck.
Im honestly not convinced that this is true, if it is then i need to replace my gauge sensor pretty dang soon because its way the off.
Here are some of the numbers that i was able to check out on the truck... i tried to look them up online but i have had 0 success finding a definate answer on what gas tank i have.
Ill have pictures later, im using work computer for a split second to post this up.
First Line: 71L54-9002-DC
Second Line: 44ZG-5I82-2
Third Line: >PE-HD.FE-LLD.E-VAL<
Im hoping someone has a clue on these codes, because there is nothing on this information on the web at all.

Re: What gas tank...
ford gas guages always read less than whats really in the tank...my ranger the needle could be on E and it would only take 16 gallons...my F150 could be at an 1/8th tank and it only takes 20-22 gallons and it has a 27 gallon tank

Yeah ive been seeing that alot on other forums, however, would love to have an accurate gauge at least once to get my bearing straight, specially when i hit (E) and i only take 14.7 Gallons of gas and im suppose to have 19.5 capacity tank.

Re: What gas tank...
If you find out let me know. I have been trying to figure it out, i've read some places that it could be a 16.5 gallon tank, which seems more reasonable.

Re: What gas tank...
an ultra gauge is not gonna be 100 percent accurate its a little computer. I personally hate what they call cell phones these days, smart phones, what a stupid name to call them. Can I get the app that wont make my phone freeze up/lock up.

Re: What gas tank...
The previous owner may have had to replace the fuel tank some time and put the fuel tank for a regular cab short wheel base ranger in it which is a 16.5 gallon tank...
Application Capacity
Regular cab (Short wheel base) 62.4L (16.5 gallons)
Regular cab (Long wheel base) 75.7L (20.0 gallons)
SuperCab 73.8L (19.5 gallons)
This info came from the 2001 Ford Ranger Manual.
