nightshading amber will light up red.

Most common method is using VHT Niteshades. It's a transparent black rattle can of spray paint that can be purchased at a local autoparts store or online. Usually 2 coats is way dark enough. Then wetsand the niteshade...then a nice thick multi-coat layer of a high gloss clearcoat. Prepping the housings would be using a prep-wipe to remove all fingerprint grease and other dirty stuff.

How do you misplace a tailgate? lol

Anyway.... Here in Mass, it's illegal to tint your headlights or tails. If you do tint your tails, make sure you can still tell they're RED/ORANGE... otherwise, the police will pull you over.

I've had friends that have been pulled over for those headlight covers, so I'm assuming headlight tinting is also a nono.
