Re: Por-15
order it from www.por15.com. you are supposed to clean it with POR-15's 2 step system. Wire brush usually does the trick. Or a wire wheel on a grinder at a low setting so you dont completely eat though your frame.

Re: Por-15
from what I have seen and read you have to clean with their product, and also coat with their clear coat. We have a sign in our local cemetary that was painted with it but was not cleaned with there cleaner or clear coated and rust is showing through it.

Re: Por-15
it brushes on, works really nice too, looks like it was done with a spray gun when finished. make sure you wire brush any scale & dirt off the frame, then i would wipe it down with a rag soaked in laquor thinner or mineral spirits to clean any dust & oil off. brush it on, wear gloves & saftey glasses ( this stuff does NOT come off skin, i tried sand paper on my hands with no luck, lol). one coat should be all you need, and you should only need a quart can, probibly less (i've done my frame & suspension on the truck, plus about 4 other projects and still have some of a quart can left).
also when you store any leftover product put a peice of plastic wrap between the lid and the can, otherwise the paint goes bad.

You can spray it on but don't plan on the sprayer being usable again. You also need to dilute it to be able to spray it, which IMO, reduces its protection.

I wouldn't have recommended doing that, the can says it sticks best to metal, and even better if you use the 2step cleaning system. The POR-15 will stick to that stuff, but when that rubber coating starts to peel, the POR-15 is comin with it.

Re: Por-15
Yeah, use their two step process. Or mineral spirits, after you knock all the big shit off with a wire brush, I've also used a 90 degree die grinder with a scotch bright pad to do it. then hit it with mineral spirits.

Re: Por-15
Follow their directions to a T(knock scale off, then Prep-n-Ready and , Marine Clean) otherwise you will be throwing your money down the drain.
I prefer to sandblast then POR15, then Valspart tractor black. I have had EXCELLENT results with this procedure(plow truck that was done 5 years ago, looks like the day I did it)
Before
after
