Default Bumper Question

I have chrome bumpers and I want painted. How hard would it be to paint them and would it stick well? Could i plastic dip them then paint over that?

if you never want to go back to chrome, take the bumper off and lightly sand the chrome to give the paint something to stick to. then wash, paint, let dry and re-assemble.

Dont plasti-dip then paint. It still peels right off.

I used bedliner and that stuck very nice. But i dont know about regular paint.
As long as you prep correctly and take your time, it should be good.

Hmmm. I think if you paint the bumper you should paint the grill and gill trim piece. Maybe the backing of your heads. I think if your gonna do one thing, you half to do it all.

If you want to paint it black, white, red, blue etc. or any other common solid (non mixed color) then DEFINITELY use PlatiDip. DO NOT paint over PlastiDip though.

Again, PlastiDip comes in solid common colors and sticks GREAT to chrome. I had in on an old car and lasted over 3 years until I sold it. It looked great too! Better than gloss finish.

I plan to use white PlastiDip for my mirror caps.

Let me know if you have questions, because I've actually done this with GREAT results. .

No I dont have pics, it was on a previously owned car.

And NO you DONT have to sand the chrome! I don't care what anyone says, again, I've done this. It works. Just clean it real well with acetone and you'll be fine.
