Have to drill out the rivets with a drill bit
U know u will have holes once you remove it?
I covered mine up with license plate caps. They are screws then have little chrome caps to block the screw head
or try this Bumper plugs

Here's my trick on 01-05's....
Unscrew lisence plate from frame.
Both hands gripping the bottom of the frame, and pull up/forward and the plastic holder will ream the holes out and slip past the rivets.
Take hacksaw, and saw the rivet in half letting one half fall to the ground and the other half fall in the bumper which you'll just work out with your fingers.
Result is a perfect hole, no messed up drilled marks/holes on the bumper. And you can bolt the holder back on if you wanted to down the road. Do what STL did or even use small carriage bolts with the heads painte to match your bumper.

BOLTS, not screws. lol.....gonna need some BIG ASS screws to cinche onto those big ass holes. lol. 1/4" bolts work perfect. I had to put mine back on a while back(thank you Portland PD) then took it off when I bodylifted the truck or put the lights on it or something. Hasn't been on the truck since early '08 or later '07. My way of removing license plate bracket was just to bend the bracket when it was really cold out or really warm and it will pop the rivets through the holes like a hot knife thru butter.
To reattach plate to truck, I always used long zipties either thru the existing rivet holes or just around the bumper. Also made for really easy removal a couple of days later too.

why anyone would remove something that is required by law (in most states) is beyond me. here in MN a ticket for not having a license plate is like $150.

Or maybe the prison workers needed more work, so thats why you have two plates.

I'd do that before I remove the plate if that's the sole purpose of removing the plate... Quote:
