Default Fog light wiring??

Hey guys, Does anyone know what the wiring looks like going to the stock fog lights mounted to the valence? I was thinking of removing my valence after i put in my body lift cuz i don't want to really loose my tow hooks but i was wanting to us the wiring for the stock fogs for maybe a diff set of fogs mounted somewhere else. maybe pics?

Just locate the wires coming off the plug to the foglights

Like cody said u can cut the valence to still have ur tow hooks.

Just have to cut the valence 3" down and a little wider so u can use them

I got pictures of another ranger like that but cant post it on my phone.

Each factory fog lamp has a connector with a tan/orange hot wire and a black ground wire. It should be easy to reuse those wires for some after market fogs as long as the total wattage was kept reasonably close to stock. IIRC, the factory bulbs are about 42W each but I have 65W bulbs in mine without problems. I wouldn't risk going much higher than that.

Yes just notch out the valance for the hooks. And, I have my Hella 500 driving lights wired to my stock fog light wiring. It works great and makes for a clean install. Oh and There is a mod you can do that will allow you to run the fog lamp with the high beams. You have to bend a tab on one of the relays.

2002~2003 Ranger Foglamp Mod
Quote:

Choose the correct relay from the underhood distribution box.
Pull the relay.
Choose the correct blade and bend it over as shown.
Reinstall.

Result: foglamps allowed to operate with both low beams and high beams.

Works on 2002~2003 Rangers with factory foglamps.
Different mods are required for other years.

Now i forsure have to bend that exact prong? I'll have to hold that lil white box up to the pic to make sure i get the right one then... lol

No, the bent pin mod is not possible with a 2005.
2004~2006 would require a minor wiring change under the passenger side kick panel.
