Default Rear Tow Hook location or fitment?!

We had quite a lot of snow here in the UK the past few weeks, i do not have a towbar hitch wired up or installed, but thought i would at least have a two hook located on the chassis somewhere.

Now i could be totally stupid, but i looked in the the handbook and nothing.....i have done a search here and nothing also, i have found plates that you can weld onto the chassis but am wondering what the best way forward is (i really don't want a tow bar or detachable one either) just want a simple bold on loop or something to pull a car when and as i need to, (or be pulled out myself)

I have a 2x4/4x4 Diesel Double Cab (2006 uk model)

Honestly, best bet is using a frame mounted trailer hitch. It's simple, it's pretty darn readily available, and it's about the strongest thing you can do. Here inthe states, we've got aftermarket options out there that really look good...no horizontal tube uglying up the rear end. IDK about the UK Ranger like you've got.

Your truck is ALOT different than the North American Ranger....ours on some models came with a bolt-on rear towhook when not equipped with a rear hitch. Those hooks are damn near impossible to find...but they're out there.

Thanks for the reply Shane.....i guess its going to be a case of getting under there and seeing what i have to play with eh!

I want it nice and clean looking, have seen some rally hooks on ebay, they just bold onto the chassis, i just need a good strong location to do it, then underseal it all again.

Should be pretty straight forward.

Thanks for the reply dude.

Steve

No probs.

The problem with those hooks that bolt onto something is that the frames and bumpers are on different levels/elevations. If you do one of those you risk damaging the bumper when you actually need to use the hook. That's the case with the US Ranger. The bottom of the frame is like 6" higher than the bottom of the rear bumper.

Yea your bang on there, on looking under the truck rear I can see what you mean!
What a pain in the ring piece!!!

Kinds stuck now lol
wonder if I could mount a point under the rear chrome bumper tube!?
It looks pretty secure the way it's bolted on, there are also two brackets on the underside of it that could be used.

I can see it ending in tears if it's not bolted on hardcore like haha

Might do a test run and drag the mother inlaw behind for a few miles
and see what happens !

I put a factory rear tow on mine. really hard to find. Don't know what is in the UK for you, but a hitch is definitely the best thing to do.

There is another style out there that is just a round loop, i'll try to find some pictures...

I didn't take any time to take it....already had the pic! haha. Just added the orange circle. lol. No problem man.

Here's a crappy pic of the hook Grant posted above in it's entirety...but the actual hook/hoop/ring is different

I wouldn't mind getting a sixer from the UK. Global Brews FTW! haha.
