Default H.I.D. install problem.

I bought and installed a set of 55 watt h.i.d. ballasts in my 1990 Ranger. I pulled the headlight knob and got nothing. I waited about 40 seconds for them to ignite. This morning I came in to work and hooked both ballasts up to a 12 volt battery (I manage a battery store) and I got 8000k of beautiful intense light. Its a cheap VVME low beam only ebay kit. Oh and I put my regular halogens back in after and they lit up just fine so I assume my wiring is ok. Any ideas guys?

EDIT: Found one theory I may try today. Will post results.

Yes. You wired something wrong. Or the pins in the harness need to be switched around, which is rather common. Also, if you are not using a relay harness, they often will not work at all. The voltage drop through the truck's electrical system is very often too much and the ballasts will not fire.

Apparently I didn't try hard enough when I used google before I made this thread. The reversing polarity was my attempted solution and it worked. I work at a freaking battery store... I should've known bulbs have no polarity but when you've got an ac ballast it obviously matters. Thanks man! Now I cant wait for my projectors and shroud from TRS!

What exactly did you do to reverse the polarity? I bought the vvme 35w bi's and mine wouldn't work properly.
it wouldn't go to high's unless I hit the "flash to pass" lever, but just flipping the high lever, nothin happened. I tried to switch the high and low beam wires, but that didn't work. UNless the wires were wrong. Isn't the middle wire in the blue plug the ground? Thanks for any info.
