where would i get the best signal. and how to mount it (if its not a magnet mount) or if someone could recomend a kit or a certain antenna.

Default wilson 1000

so the best place to mount would be the center of the roof of the cab. that way the ground plane is as close to equal as you can get. second is i recomend a magnet mount wilson 1000. its one of the best rated mobile antenna's out there. and if you go magnet, you have the option of taking it with you when you move to the next veh. or secure it at night. i wouldnt leave it on overnight even if it was hard mounted, they just unscrew and the local kids around here made off with one already. you dont lose too much in the difference between magnet and permanent. at least not enough to be too noticeable, unless your running a 1k linear, you wont notice the difference.

The best antenna location would be roof mount towards the bed with a permanently mounted Wilson 1000. I for one am not drilling my roof so I am looking for alternatives.

are you having problems stuck in the "mud"? if your not "getting out" have you tried "matching" the antenna to the radio/car. this usually involves trimming a very small portion of the antenna- no more than a sliver each time. it also requires a gauge to read the signal when you transimt. a 1 to 1 ratio is the best you can get but i have seen a couple that are below that. It takes a skilled individual with experience. usually a truck stop cb shop can help with this. if your going to try this yourself, i could explain it, but unless you have done it before i wouldnt reccomend it.

Not to steal from Alon's sales or anything, but yes you are correct and anyone can make these with a little heat applied and a drill. its just an idea for the OP.

if you are having trouble finding a mount just get a mirror mount one and take the back side off of it and mount it to the bed or where ever you want to mount it. thats wat i did and i havnt had a problem with it

No problem... I have had many people try and make their own and then the end up buying mine anyways after getting fed up with theirs not coming out right. I don't mind if people make their own.

I also know that the mount is not for everyone. I made it specifically for people with shells or bed covers who needed an easy place to mount the antenna.
