Ok, like the title says, I am not a fan. My truck is a silver cab and a half XLT and so has the same ugly grill motif as all the Ford trucks. the new Superduty grill, really? What are they thinking?

Anyway... What are my options that do not require a ton of fabrication. Earlier years that fit? Complete aftermarket? I saw one that said you had to cut your shell, but that is not going to fly, would be tacky.

Also..... I can see some poor Robin doing a kamakazi run into my lower grill opening that has no grill at all and leaving me on the side of the road with a green puddle. What have you fellows done to close up that opening?

Try grill4u.com. They have some inserts that fill the open areas including the lower opening. I had an 08 for three years and did not have any issues with birds and I have an 11 for a year and no bird issues.

If you have the chrome color grille, then I agree with you. The body-color grille looks better IMHO. Five screws along the top edge, then you can pull the grille free - snap-in fasteners along the bottom edge... Painting it body-color (silver) is an option. You could acquire a 2009 grille (STX version) and easily swap in.

I removed my grille to put a sheet of window screen behind. Extends all the way down to the top edge of the skid plate so it covers the gap in the lower bumper/valence. Catches the bugs and would slow down bird strikes:

I have a 2010 Grille and feel the same way you do. I was looking into this one online for $40. Just havent pulled the trigger b/c I am not sure if it will be an exact fit =|. Its an edge look which I really like on the rangers. Anyways, thought this may help ya.

What setup do I need to switch to a stainless tube grill. Certian year grill shell best for this?

I don't want the huge blue oval of the stock grilles. If someone doesn't know its a Ford they probably don't care, and Ford didn't pay me to advertise.

I started debadging the tailgate but found the holes under the Ranger emblem. I put on a CLK 320 emblem but switched it to CLK230 to cover the holes. Should tick off some Mercedes owners. I'm thinking of having the tailgate painted so I can get rid of that garish big badge.

I screwed up the ranger emblem taking it off and had the CLK emblem collecting dust in the shop. It covers the holes for now.

Besides, its a Ranger. If I had a Lambo and put a Pinto emblem on it that may be an insult. I like screwing with people anyway. My wife works at a bodyshop and she put a Chevrolet emblem on her shaved Mazda 3 for a couple of weeks just for fun. Lighten up, its just a truck.

Ha! Funny you should mention that. I'm a 55 year old, gray haired grandpa, but until the bottom fell out of the housing market I was into hot rod Miata's. My street car was 257 rwhp with a twin screw Lysolm and my race car was over 600 hp running a turbo at 36 pounds of boost.
