Default Mud Guards for 2010 Ranger XL

I am in a climate where mud guards are essential. My model did not come with the fender flare/stone guards as it is an XL with 4 cylinder and five speed. I have moulded guards ready to install. I would like to hear some comments about installing them regarding drilling, size of screws / nots and bolts etc. I am also very concerned with the drilled holes getting rusty in an area where salt is still used on roads in the winter so any tips in that area would be appreciated. Thanks, Dave

I always put the mud flaps on with 3/16 pop rivets and they never give any trouble. The screws usually tend to come loose. Get the "button head" rivets and you can't go wrong.

Drill a hole where it's going to go, paint the hole before you in stall the bolts/rivets etc. A yearly undercoating in our climate is worth weight in gold eh.

Eh?? I will either paint or "treat" the holes with something to prevent or slow down rust. I have my truck rust checked every fall so hopefully the holes will not rust too badly. I am not sure that I'd try using pop rivets as they cannot be removed without some work if I ever wanted to remove the guards to check for corrosion. Hopefully some others will chime in here. Dave
