Default Is DIY bedliner that bad or is this guy yankin my chain?

Hey guys i stopped into a local truck shop (appleton, wi) and asked some questions about DIY paint in bed liners. The guy in there told me to stay away from them and tried to sell me his $400 service of the shop spraying in their spray in liner. Is DIY w/ proper prep that bad of stuff?? Does it last? And i dont haul heavyduty. Im assuming hes jus tryin to make some money off a 19y/o so im still pretty set on doing it myself. Wat is the best brand of diy paint in liner which will give me the best results?

With the proper prep of sanding the bed down and cleaning good it will last

Of course they dont want you to buy a DIY and spend the 400 dollars on theirs

Check this thread out How to: Install a roll on bedliner

It's all in the prep. I painted mine and I think I spent 6hrs sanding/cleaning the bed. I did 4 coats in about 2hrs. It came out really good and holding up with no problems.

Just follow that how-to precisely and you should be fine. Yeah I love my spray-in, so I'm biased. But if you do all the prep that STL suggested, then you will be fine

I have tried the duplicolor spray can stuff. It's junk for your bed, but works good for flares and interior pieces if you like. It is just too soft for a truck bed.
