New State Law in Missouri on "Cracked Auto Windshields", any crack that's more than an inch long will "NOT" pass Safety Inspection. Therefore must be replaced! Mine didn't pass but it did the last 4 yrs and now I have to pay $200 or more for replacement. The Glass companies are going to rake in money. Our Government @ work for Our Safety!!!

How much did you pay to have your Windshield replaced?

UPDATE:
Called the Highway Patrol(Dept. that governs safety inspections) & they said there has "NOT" been a change in the Law pertaining to Cracks in your Windshield. So my Ford Dealership straight lied to me just to Drum up business. HP did say it's up to the inspector if the crack impedes vision & mine didn't. I had mine replaced anyway($199.99) & they came to my wife's job & did the install. They left a few minor scratches but I can live with that. I'm thinking about reporting that person to Corporate Headquarters for lying to me.
P.S. Dealership wanted to charge me $270 on top of the Lie!!

Same thing happened to me except I got pulled over by a cop 2 hours drive away from my home in a small town and was cited with a "fix-it-ticket."

Once I got it replaced I had make the 2-hour drive back to that crappy town simply to show the court that I had replaced it. I think it was around $150?? I'll have to check my receipt when I get home. But I've heard that insurance sometimes covers it.

yeah, Insurance! in fact it's the law in MN, all insurance carriers must have windshield replacement on all insurers auto policies.
and there is no deductable, so people can't say "but I have a $500 deductable"

I already had the unfortunate experience of needing to replace the windshield in my 08' Ranger, and I believe it was $224. That includes the windshield + 7.75% sales tax. The cost would have been $60 more, but I went without the fancy white sticker at the top that says "Ranger". Ohio does not allow insurance companies to replace the windshield for free, and I have a $500 deductible. When I called my insurance they suggested lowering my deductible for the future, but then my rates would have risen because the more expensive the deductible, the less the insurance pays out, and the less I pay in my premium. Either way, I had to fix it since it was a long streak extending the length of the window and in driver's plain sight. Last year, I got a chip, and I used a kit called Permanex to patch the windshield. In fact, I got another chip recently, and this morning I decided to try and fix that one. I'm getting quite sick of construction vehicles that are not required to tie their loads.

Tried going thru my Insurance(State Farm). I have to meet my $500 deductible first,so that didn't quite work out since my Windshield cost was $199.99. Our Ranger's Windshield is too upright that's why we get so many Cracked Windshields & fair to poor gas mileage. Ford should have may them more aerodynamic then we may get more of a glancing blow as oppose to a blunt hit which causes more damage.
