| | Double Din - direct swap?
Hey guys, this topic might have been covered already but I can't seem to find a thread using search... Anyway I'm wondering if there's a double din (preferably with gps function) that'll fit a 2011 Ranger Sport without trimming the lip on the bezel? Recommendations?
Also, Im about to post a link and I know the units on the website are cheapy's straight out of China, but would any of these do? http://www.mp3playerstore.com/catalo...D_Players.html
I'd prefer not to have to trim the bezel as my dad would likely murder me (he'd figure it out) and in case I ever needed to reinstall the stock unit...
Thanks in advance!!

Sounds like you shouldn't do it, if you don't own the truck....or are still of the age that you need to worry about parents. If you can't do the time.....dont do the crime.

I didn't have to trim hardly anything when I put mine in. And if you do it right you should not be able to tell its been done.

Haha I own the truck (changed quite a few things on it already too) and am old enough where I SHOULDN'T have to worry about parents. But unfortunately mine are thrifty traditional Asians...
"WHY U WASTE ALL DA MONEY ON CHWUCK!?"
"WHY U CUT RADIO!?"
"WHAT DA HELL U FINKING!?"
Lol.
xD
Hahah, any recommendations on double dins with navigation? Affordable ones perhaps? I guess if I really want to do this I'll have to perform some surgery!

there are some radios that 'look' like a double din, but are a 1.8din size like the stock radio. i had to trim to get my pioneer avh-3200 to fit. the top and bottom lip of the radio opening had to be cut off. the link below is crutchfield's headunits with nav. searched for a 2011 ranger extended cab. they all say modified fit, which is like what i had to do. you can compare units on there then shop around, or pay a bit more for the free install gear and their tech support. the free dash kit, wire harness, and stock radio removal tools are a bonus. http://www.crutchfield.com/g_300/Car...e|YCNavigation | | | |

If you want good navigation for "cheap." I would advise you get a smart phone, android/blackberry perhaps, and a really nice $200 deck with bluetooth audio.
I use my Mytouch 4g and a bluetooth enabled deck, I can make calls hands free in my truck, and I can make my navigation's voice play though my radio. I'll be adding a dash mount for the phone so I can also see the map, although I often don't need to look at it.
This will all cost nearly as much as the expensive in dash navigation system, but you do get a great smart phone, pandora playback, wireless MP3 player, and hands free calling in the deal.

I installed a pioneer fh-p8000t in my 2010 with a bit of trimming, but it syncs with my smartphone for Bluetooth phone and music, I love it. Since ford didn't put the sync option in our trucks I did it myself, lol. Only thing is it doesn't have nav, but I have a Garmin nuvi mounted on the dash anyway, so I didn't need it. Why don't you buy another bezel and modify that one, while keeping the original one that came with the truck?

Body, transmission is way too nice and suped up i really dont want to junk it id rather pay 2000 for a new engine then to go get another used vehicle and not know what your gonna get | That's what I was thinking. as far as recommendations check out Crutchfield, or look into some of the new Android powered ones. I know they make them. Vivid makes a tuner that doubles as one tooI think and monitors engine components, mileage etc. I just use my phone with Bluetooth and a mount. Deck cost me 110 so pretty cheap and no permanent modifications. Plus the gps can go with me
