Acetone'ing Ranger emblem
I saw a picture of a ranger emblem on a guys post and he said he "acetone'd" his emblem and it turned out chrome? anyone have any imput on this? i may do it. It was in this thread: project: 06

what i did was used nail polish remover($1.00 at walmart) and used an old rag, dabbed some remover on the rag, and started rubbing the black off

I use the real stuff.....Acetone. Ace Hardware or True Value or Home Depot...any local hardware store will have it. I use q-tips. Here's a vid freakin' Tre decided to record me doing it. lol. Actually didn't turn out too bad.

How did you go about getting the emblem off?
is it glue or pins?

Double sided tape and a couple of alignment pins.

Doesn't sound like i'll be getting them off too easy.. i imagine the center will be easy but how do i get the outside edge? dont want any acetone on my truck..special tape?

Use a hair dryer and some fishing line.
The emblem in the vid was a brand new emblem, so it still had the "paper" over the sticky tape.

Does acetone work on the older style badges as well? Mine's starting to show some wear, and I was thinking of stripping them.
