Only when you turn the dimmer switch all the way up if it had the cargo lights stock.

the ones on my 99 only come on with the dimmer switch, my 98 didn't come stock with cargo light but the wiring was already there so i swapped one in, i think that one only came on with the dimmer too

trucks from 01-03 that dont have the cargo light are wired ready to go

04+ you have to run a wire from the dimmer switch for it to work

so if my 98 and my 99 both required no wiring for the cargo lights to work then its safe to say that the 01-03s are the only ones that require wiring if if it didn't come stock with a cargo light?

01-present... my 08 came w/ only a red light so I had to run the wire for the cargos.

I did this mod to my 03. I got the light and the 3 plug harness from my local salvage yard. I ran a wire from my interior light to my cargo light so that when i open my door or flip the dimmer switch it comes on.

casper is the only other person i know of who swapped to an all red light

i considered modifying mine so all three red sections lit up with the brakes, but i really wanted the cargo lamps so i could light up the bed at night
