I am wondering when hooking my Fogs to the relay will the fogs be more brighter?
Because rite now i have my fogs hooked directly to my battery onto a switch with a inline fuse.

And there is no problems.
You talking aftermarket or factory fogs? Either way, they shouldn't be any brighter.

Default Re: Fog Lights / High Beams

Bringing up a thread from the dead. However, I wanted to remove the metal bar inside the stock fog lights on my 04 that prevent them from shining out onto the road. I recently installed Silverstar Ultras 9005's and they are brighter than the 9145's but the metal piece inside the fog light appears to be the culprit for not letting the light get too far down the road. I know some of you are thinking, "they are fog lights, not headlights." However, living in Rural Maine where Moose are prevalent I would like as much light as far out in front as me as possible. Has anyone done this? I see that there is only one screw holding the metal assembly on but getting to that screw may present a problem.

What you're going to gain by doing this the light pattern is spread out side to side illuminating the shoulder of the road more instead of having the beam focused ahead of the truck. I drive rural Alabama hwys. and love the light pattern being spread out. While I don't have to worry about moose, deer are my bain. Removing the "ring" allows me to see the sides of the road better.

I've done this mod, but reinstalled the "shroud" (metal piece around bulb) because i want to light up the road in front of the truck, not a ditch 30 feet away from the truck.
these are FOG lights, not DITCH lights

Up here, I would much rather have ditch lights. Critters love to hang out off the road and pop out just prior to your arrival. The foglights only light up the sides of the road about 20 ft in front of the truck. If you were to just spot something then and you were traveling over 50mph it is too late.

I haven't taken a close look at the lights. Do you need to separate the glue from the lens to get to the shroud?
