Default Broken front frame cross-member.

Bought my ranger about 3 months back and made sure engine was working properly, but I never checked the frame and such. I took my ranger to a brake shop a couple of weeks back to have my pads and rotors replace and the mechanic found a crack about halfway through the front frame cross-member and told me to get it welded. I took it to a body shop, but the owner told me i would have to go to a junk yard, find the part and have it welded in, in replace of the current broken one. From a distance the truck is tilted to the left(looking at the front) and the body shop man told me its because that cross-member is dented and basically really messed up. This affects the steering somewhat and could lead to future complications. This truck will be used a lot for the remaining 3 years of college. I could really use advice on parts, labor, and any other problems i could encounter. Thanks!!!
