Default 09 Tail lights

Ok so I have a friend of mine that just bought an 09 Ranger xlt. Being the great friend I am...I want to get him new tail lights for his truck. The problem I am having is that if I look up 09 Rangers there are two sets of black tail lights. If I look up an 04 or 03 there are hand fulls. Can anyone tell me what years I could look at and they would still fit on the 09? Thank you so much.

all 93+ tails are interchangeable. You can look up anything 00+, and it'll fit and have the correct number of bulbs in the tails.

I'm saying you'll want tails designed for a 00+ truck if the truck is a 00+. If you get 93-99 tails, they've got 3 bulbs in the tails...the signal bulb is seperate from brake/running lamp. 00+ have two bulbs in the tails...the signal bulb is the same as the brake/running lamp bulb.

If you want all the functions of the 3 bulb tail on a 2 bulb truck, some wiring would be needed. Same for vice versa too(2 bulb on a 3 bulb truck).

The taillamp housings, anything 93+ or designed for 93+ will bolt onto anything 93+.

*Mazda B-series tails will not work on a ranger.

My guess is it's the same issue I have with my truck sometimes... the truck is so new that since the manufacturer cant guarantee it'll fit they won't list that year. There are a couple lift kits out there that (last time I checked at least) weren't rated for my truck... but they go to '06... which we all know is the same as my truck...

Just go with anything from 2000 to current. There are so damn many styles available, there's really no need to get an old (3 bulb) set of tails that will require wiring.

The hard part is trying to decide which ones you like best. There are a ton of options....
