Got my Kobalt Slim toolbox installed!
So we returned an air conditioning unit back to Lowe's last night and i used the money to buy a toolbox! Got it installed today with some j-bolts... The stupid Grip Rite things it recommends don't work too well with a bed liner and whatnot. Pretty stoked anyway! It feels kinda flimsy and it's pretty thin, but i guess that's to expect with the low price. Gonna put my emergency supplies and some other odds and ends in there.
Edit: Whoops... probably should've put this in the vehicle snapshots section... Doh!

Re: Got my Kobalt Slim toolbox installed!
looks good! i remember looking at those when i was shopping for a toolbox, i know what you mean about being thin but it was decent for the price, just wasint what i needed. as long as its dry and secure than it's a great investment!

Thanks dude! And yeah it actually rained a little today when it was just sitting in my bed and the inside was dry afterward, so i'm hoping its a good sign. As for security, i'm definitely looking into another lock of some sort.. it's pretty, uh, wiggley. Haha.

Thanks! And no it's not, but i think i saw a tray you can buy to go into it.. Haha. I don't know if i'll get it but if i can put a better lock mechanism on it i'll probably consider it.

Re: Got my Kobalt Slim toolbox installed!
Looks great!
I picked one of those up myself, and was so excited, I put my FUEL key into the lock by mistake . Now it ONLY locks/unlocks with my fuel key!
But I'm cool with that! Less keys!

Re: Got my Kobalt Slim toolbox installed!
post 50 for the box i made
http://www.fordrangerforum.com/vehic...olboxes-4.html
and my toolbox holes have since been covered by flat head bolts lol there was like 4 holes in the box and i used them as anchor point holes. someday i might match the bolts up but i think it looks good as it is
----------
wish it would polish up tho tried several times with aluminum polish and its just so scratched up that its not worth it lol

Hey, that's actually pretty sweet! I did that with my key for my Club, but the key for the box still works fine. Haha.

That box thing's actually pretty cool! I really wanna add anchor points on it somewhere but i'm seriously freaked by how flimsy it really is...
It really won't polish? Shit, that stinks. Have you considered just painting it?

i reinforced the bolts with something thick and long behind it so it uses as much of the strength of the aluminum as possiible. i used pieces from an hitch set. if you want i can take pictures of it. you can also use one of those long nuts, i am also doing that too lol
----------
fuck it ill go take pics right now
