Default CB antenna mounting

I am about to by my cb whip for the truck but im having a hard time figuring out what i need to get and how im goin to mount it. First, what do i need to buy to get it up and going, i know the antenna and the wire, but do i need to buy the bushing and spacer type things as well? Second, does the type of metal matter for a mountingbracket. Sense im getting the whip i want to have it somewhere that it wont have a chance to hit other cars but i dont have a tool box or open ben to mount it. i was thinkin about making a bracket go from inside the bed underneath the topper and out in betweek the cab and the bed right in the center. Is that a good idea for a mounting place, and will it work? i just want to make that iv got everything in order. heres what iv got to work with having the topper there.

Need more details.. how long is the whip and what style is it? Are you 100% sure you want it mounted between the bed and the cab? If its a 9footer you're going to have a hell of a time with it beating against the cab when you hit the brakes.

My mount is secured to the front fender btw the hood channels. 24$ online and its made from stainless steel. Just an option and its different from what everyone else has. I can get pics if you want them for an idea.

I like the hood mount too... I've seen it a few times and I prefer that location... I've considered installing an antenna there myself and just not hooking it up... I think the antenna will smack the cab a lot if you put it where you're talking about.

Here's another popular location... there's a guy on here (Alon) who sells the bracket to mount them here. This is where I mount my flag when I go on the sand dunes.

ya im getting the 102" whip. Tennis balll fixes everthing, ill just slap one on were the whip would hit the cab. I do like the look of the hood mount and also the tail gate/light setup but it wouldnt be a good idea to run the whip on those places. If its on the back id have a good chance of hitting someone behind me.

I was thinking a 90 degree peice of metal that goes from the inside to the outside of the bed and on the end have the hole that the antenna bolts up to with all the little washers and what not but i wasnt sure if i would get a good ground from the bed and if it would work at all.

The metal of the bed will make a perfectly fine ground connection. Mounting the 8ft whips on the back bumper is very common and they don't bend down and hit things. Not even close.

i have run a full whip on the bumper on 4 trucks now and never had it bend back far enuf to hit anyone behind me the tennis ball works to keep your truck from getting scrached
