Default seal rear window the old school way?

I have water stains on my headliner around the top of my rear window, which is a slider. Can the window gasket be sealed like we did in the "old days"? I used to take a car to a automotive glass company and they would seal the window with some caulking from a gun. Just wondering if that is still done and is it appropriate for that style gasket?

before you go at the window...check the 3rd brake light first

no...the window seal is buytle tape...pull the window out...its like 8 bolts or so and remove all the old seal and retape the window...not too hard to do

Re-sealing the rear window in these trucks is the easiest thing I've ever done. As was said, use butyl tape.

Thanks for the input. What am I looking for with the third brake light? Gasket leak, or do I disassemble it and look for a leak?
