Others can explain what all you need. I would also suggest a 12v plug in as well.

for off road lights, like mine, i have 3 100W 6in rounds, i ran a relay to avoid frying the switch. relays are always better but for low wattage stuff like backup lights and leds you can just run your wires easy. power-switch-light-ground/

One of those fuse blocks are great if you plan on having alot of excess lights.

wire (obviously)
solder and shrink wrap or butt connectors and crimp tool, depending on how cool you are.
some type of aux. fuse block (click for example)
lights
fuse holder and appropriate size fuse.
switch

relay and relay holder are optional if you want to get super sick with it.

google will also have any wiring diagram for aux lights, i've found plenty on there to post before

imo it's easier to run power from the battery, that makes it easier to find and easier to mount the fuse block. on mine, i have a big piece of wire (like for a stereo amp) going to a big fuse, then to the fuse block. then every aux thing is fused separately as well, and most have relays too.

so if i ran wire from the battery (to bed) , would i go under the truck? i assume id try to follow the brake wires, im sure theres a hole for all that wiring

----------

whats the deal on resistors? i know they give less power to leds so they dont blow, so would it be

power-resistor-fuse lock- light?

----------

for the tool box, in the first light option wil the one labeled NFLS-SS-x300-1/2M: 30 High Power LED Super Slim Flexible Light Strip 1/2m Sample work good? i assume itd be PLENTY bright

yeah i just ran mine on the inside of the frame rail, either zip tied up out of the way, or clipped into the little clips the fuel and brake lines are held with.

you don't need resistors unless you put them in your brake/turn signal bulb locations and the truck tells you that your bulb is out.

drill a hole and hook up the wires. if it's unlighted, there will be a "hot" wire (wire from power source) and then the other wire goes to your light. if it's lighted, the third prong will be ground. most come with a wiring printout, or markings on the switch body itself.
