Default My first question... from newbie

My first question:

I have a 2001 Ford Ranger. Since purchasing in Nov. 2011, I have replaced the "honeycomb" looking grille with the chrome XLT grille & bezel(which had to be painted red). I have replaced the headlights(only because one was new & the other was faded & I wanted them to match). I've also added a soft bed cover for dry storage. Also, new battery, new front pads & rotors, oil change, and coolant flush.

The painted red bumpers have to go... They are dinged up pretty bad & I just prefer the chrome bumpers on the XLTs. I have some questions before I start shopping:

1.) I want to keep the fog lights, so do I need the FX4 front bumper?

2.) Will the rear bumper from a '93 fit my '01? All the rear bumpers look the same from that body style up... are they?

Last... where is the best place to shop? I've found some on ebay, but they seem pricey. Links would be great.

Thanks for your help!

you should be good on the fog/valance deal.

rear bumper should fit. I put my hitch from my 97 on my 01/ everything lined up

An XLT bumper will do for the fog lights, I believe the frames are different from 93 to 01 so that bumper may need to be modded to fit the brackets for your 01. Ebay is probably your best bet or search this forums classifieds. I got my rear bumper off ebay cheap so it may take some time just keep looking

well the bumper can be replaced and still keep the valance, the plastic part. thats the best bet, and your fogs stay in the same place.

----------

do bumpers anything from 98+ will work for your truck. also when you get a front bumper make sure that if you have a 4wd or edge to get the 4wd bumper, as the 2wd ones are different..

Frames did go wider in 98+. but only the cab part. The rear section runs down to at least 93 width

Great information guys. Thanks.

I work with a guy who drives a '93-'97 body style. I'm going to park beside him tomorrow & measure/compare rear bumpers.
