Question Mounting a toolbox

Since my bed interior (with liner) is only 39" and I don't want to spring $250+ for a saddle type metal one I'm looking at a polymer toolbox that is 36".
Since the gas tank is under the bed what the best mounting plan - maybe drill the back wall and push bolts through from the other side?

Any suggestions welcome.

If u can butt it up next to the wall of the bed run 3-4 bolts through there and a few just offset of gas tank. I think the look on the one down low is better.

Drill from the bottom up, if you want to mount a box in the bed. I prefer the over the rail type though, and you can usually find them cheap on craigslist.

x2 on the over the rail

but do not drill. or when you remove it youll be unhappy with the holes you made. do a clamping system.

Surely even the clamps have to be anchored somewhere?

I might check Craigslist once more but most seem to be off of F150/250/Tacoma or Chevys and simply won't fit..

Actually, a box off of a Tacoma will fit your Ranger. Midsize rail boxes will fit. Then, all you need is some J hooks, and no holes drilled!
