Re: Window rubber question on door
I just did this on my 89 ranger you have to take the interior panel off but dont bother disconnecting any of the electronics. When you have the interior panel off and window rolled all the way down you can reach up with a chisel or other flat edged tool and push (break) the glue seal on the weather strip of the window (farthest from the engine) and then slowly pull the rest of the rubber off of its glue strip. Then hit it with some penetrating oil...let it sit for 20 min or so and wipe it with a shop towel whetted with denatured alcohol to clean off the residual glue. To install you have to find through a dealer or other means the weather strip that is right for your truck, It should have a paper lined sticky side, insert the weather stripping up through the door cavity, put it in the proper position and then start from the engine side, grab the paper and slowly pull it away and down going toward the rear of the vehicle (follow the removal of the paper strip in the door cavity with a flat head screw driver pointed down through the top of the weather strip into the cavity just behind where you have removed the paper to press the glue seal against the outer door frame. Its not hard It just takes a little doing. if this doesn't work for you let me know and ill take my doors apart again and try to develop another explanation.
