I painted the grill on my truck with cheap-o 96cent walmart brand flat black paint and it looks factory. I was shocked at how well it turned out. I used a whole can between my grille and valance using lots of reallly light coats so it wouldnt run.

Google some painting guides. Whether it be with a spray gun or a spray can, the same techniques apply.

Clean it really good.
Sand it really good.
Paint.

Krylon or Rustoleom spray cans are good. Duplicolor stuff found at auto parts stores will look very good too.

I would wash it with soap and water and wet sand it a bit as well, then clean it with 409m and use krylon fusion of this stuff called bumper coater that you can buy from car quest for like 4 bucks haha works great
