HID Projector install [pics!]
So seeing that I'm too crippled to do anything more exciting or physical for a little while, I tackled this one. Ditched the 9007 headlights and retrofitted HID projectors. These babies blow away the 9007 HID's and make halogens look like childrens toys.
LET THERE BE LIGHT!
All pictures of this process.

Single factory reflector with an HID 9007 in it. Boo.
Both HID projectors. Totally sexy.
Low beam
High beam
High beam and the HID off-road lights. Deer killers.
The hole for the projector's ass end
Ass end of the projector coming through the new hole
Projector and flange mounted in the housing with the crappy lens back on it.
If you already have HID 9007's, you can buy this kit for $200. It will reuse your existing ballasts and wiring

If you are totally stock, this is $300 and includes everything.

No cutting. You bake the housings in the oven which softens the glue. The clear lens then pops right off the housing. Its actually very simple. Bake, drill, put in hole.

Re: HID Projector install [pics!]
Oh. Well I just ripped that little shield thing off and used a 1.5" hole saw for the hole in the middle. I used a hack saw to cut down the stub in the back. The full photo album shows some of those details too.
The shroud is the Apollo model.

Re: HID Projector install [pics!]
Today I reconnected the off-road lights. I have H3 HID's in them, 55w 6000k. These are big 8" Explorer Pro Comp lights, massive amount of light. Deer, they just vaporize. I have them aligned slightly above centerline and kicked out to the sides a bit. That way when they're on, they light up the distant roadsides and splash a crap load of light into curves and up/down hills. And since they're up a bit, they don't blast the foreground.
Right now they're on a switch on my Whelen controller. I'm going to tie them into the high beams as well so I have off/on/automatic operation. I HATE flipping switches while driving so I want them tired in the high beams so i can turn them on and off with that as I drive.
My cell phone camera isn't the greatest. This is the projectors and the off-road lights. Basically, that grove of trees is about to ignite.

Re: HID Projector install [pics!]
WONDERFUL! Thread!!!
What shrouds did you get?
Also as far as the high beam wiring.. do our low beams shut off? I ask because it was brought up on HID planet that if you had hi/low and the hi's come on does it shut the low's off you'd have to wire a diode or something... What did you do to wire the selonoid for bi-xeon?
Any issues with clearance from the back of the projector and putting the headlight back into the front of the truck? Space is tight...
Any regrets..
I ask because I have exactly 25 mins before I am ordering and taking advantage of the sale via trs.com
Thanks,
-Nigel

Re: HID Projector install [pics!]
NewShocker, it sounds like both of us are looking for the same info. In case he doesn't get back to you in time,I believe that Fireranger used the Apollo shrouds.

There is one bulb. High beam is activated via a solenoid that pulls down a little flap inside the projector. The bulb stays the same, just allows more light out. I think I posted pics of mine, I made a thread. Ill grab a pic in a sec of the clearance and bump my thread with the pic
