Post How to take bed off the truck.

Title says it all. I got a power washer and really want to put it to use. I want to take my bed off the truck and clean under the bed and the frame of the truck.

Questions: How hard is it to take off? What tools are needed? How long will it take? Is it worth it in the end?

I don't do any off roading or anything but I got my truck in 09 and ever since I haven't touched the bottom of the truck unless I'm installing or fixing something. Now that I bought a power washer, I want to get busy . I would really appreciate any help towards this matter. Thank you!

its not hard. remove the bed bolts, disconnect the wiring harness to your tail lights, disconnect the fuel filler, grab a couple friends and lift it off.

Its not too hard there are six long screws that you have to take off. You need a ratchet and its a six point star

you can use on the ratchet and thats all you need. you will just need help pulling it off we had three of us. It took like 15 mins to take it off.

make sure you have at least 2 buddies. One on each side and then you can unhook all the wires.

Thanks guys. I've looked around at different sites, google, youtube and such and cannot find any written guides or videos. So, if I go through with this, I'll make sure to take step by step pics and post it up on here. I'll see what my weekend will be like. Thanks again guys.

At first I thought yours was posted first. I went back and your thread was right above the one already posted. Like Clinton said it was kinda like groundhogs day for a sec.

HAHA right! But yeah I appreciate everyone's help. I'm actually getting off early today because of Memorial (and getting paid for it too)! So I'll probably do this when I get home. Oh, forgot to mention. I have one of those one piece bedliners. How do I get that off to get to the bolts? That and I also have the edge bed rails. So any help with that would be nice. Thank you!

keep it on topic guys so someone who has same question dont have to read through all the chitter chatter. thread cleaned up.

to the OP, if you have not done it yet, the bed is not too hard to take off. BUT make sure you have three people to help take it off. Also removing the tailgate makes it a little lighter. You use T-55 star socket to get the botls out. An 8mm ( i believe) for the three screws holding the Gas tube to the bedside, and unplug tail lights at the pigtail.
